Rocktape - Taking a closer look

Rocktape - Taking a closer look.

With more and more Kinesiology Tapes on the market its important to find the right one for you. In this blog post we take a closer look at Rocktape.

Rocktape is designed specifically with athletes in mind. The quote from their websites homepage says it all.

"Rocktape is the only Kinesiology tape engineered to meet the demands of endurance athletes like runners, swimmers and cyclists. Unlike other products, Rocktape can be used both to apply compression to promote recovery, or decompression to relieve pain and swelling. Similar to the Kinesiology tape in the Olympics and that Lance Armstrong wrote about in “Every Second Counts”, Rocktape is used by professional and amateur athletes everywhere."

We use Rocktape ourselves and we have found it to be an extremely durable Kinesiology tape. Excellent stick even in some of the toughest of sports (I use it for a rugby team). They even provide an extra sticky Rocktape called Rocktape H2O. This tape is specially designed for swimmers but works great if you need the tape in an extra demanding environment, we have found it particularly good for triathletes.

One of the added features that Rocktape have brought into the Kinesiology market are the larger range of patterns and colours. Moving away from the traditional Pink, Beige, Black and Blue; Rocktape have introducted Union Jack, Tattoo, Logo print, Biohazard and many more!

Personally we arent to sure about some of these patterns but some of them look great and customers and patients love them!

We sell Rocktape in several different sizes from the standard rolls to clinic rolls that are 32m in length!

Kinesio Tape for Shin Splints

Kinesio Tape for Shin Splints

Recently I have been using Kinesio tape on my own shin pain and had some great results!

Even as a great supporter of Kinesio tape I was suprised as to just how much the Kinesio taping technique that I used reduced the pain I was experiencing.

The application :-
  • Firstly I used an I strip anchored onto the top of the foot at the base of the toes. The foot should be in dorsi flexion
  • From here the tape is then stretched up towards the Lateral side of the Tibal Tuberosity. The Foot is the planter flexed and the tape is secured to the leg
  • If you have an area of soreness you would like to pin point use a Y strip across the leg with the anchor on the medial side and the two arms of the Y moving the the lateral side of the leg. The arms should be applied with at 90% stretch.
Give it try yourself!
